Privacy policy for Design Extractor.
Design Extractor is a browser extension for Chrome and Firefox that I, Behnia Zarei, make and publish as BENIBIX. This page says exactly what it does with your data. Last changed 25 Oct 2026.
In short
Design Extractor sends nothing: no data about you or your pages goes to me or to anyone else. It has no account, no analytics, no ads and no tracking, and I never sell or share data.
What it reads
- The design of the page you click it on: colours, fonts, sizes, spacing, components, stylesheets and the font files the page loaded.
- A few words of the page's text, such as button labels, headings and links, to show each style with its own words.
- The element you point at while Pick is open.
- To show the site as it is, it loads the site's own stylesheets, font files, logo and icon from where the site serves them, as the page itself does; nothing of yours is sent with them.
What it keeps, and where
- The pages it read, their font files and your settings, in this browser only.
- For each page: its address and when it was read, so the report can list the pages of a site.
- A file you download or text you copy goes only where you put it: your downloads folder or your clipboard.
- Forget this site, Forget all or removing the extension deletes it.
What it keeps stays in your browser, in the extension’s own storage. Removing the extension deletes it.
What it sends
Nothing. It makes no request with your data to me or to any other server.
The permissions it asks for
- The tab you click it on, only then (
activeTab): To read the page you are on, only when you click its button, press its shortcut or choose its right-click item, and only that tab. - Run its code on pages it may reach (
scripting): To run its reader, and Pick, on the page in that tab after your click. The reader measures the drawn page and returns its colours, fonts, spacing and components. - Keep its settings in your browser (
storage): To keep what it read on your device, so the report and the list of sites are there when you come back. - Keep more than the usual amount in your browser (
unlimitedStorage): A site's report keeps the font files it uses, so the type is shown in the real fonts. A site can take a few megabytes, more than the usual quota. - Add items to the right-click menu (
contextMenus): To add "Pick an element's design" to the right-click menu of a page. - Access to
https://*/*: Asked for while you use it, for one domain at a time, never at install: to read a site's stylesheets that are served from another domain the page cannot read. - Access to
http://*/*: The same, for a site that still uses http.
What it reads is used only for the job described on its page. This follows the Chrome Web Store User Data Policy, including its Limited Use requirements, and the Firefox Add-on Policies.
The stores
You add Design Extractor from the Chrome Web Store (run by Google) or Firefox Add-ons (run by Mozilla), and your browser updates it from there. Their own privacy policies cover the store pages and the download. I receive only the totals they show every publisher, such as how many people use it.
Your rights, and who to ask
The person responsible is Behnia Zarei, Vienna, Austria (imprint), hello@benibix.com. Since the extension sends me nothing, I hold no data about you from it. You can remove it at any time from your browser’s extensions page, which deletes everything it kept. You can ask me anything about this policy, and you can complain to the Austrian Data Protection Authority (Datenschutzbehörde, Barichgasse 40–42, 1030 Vienna, dsb.gv.at) or to the data protection authority of the EU country where you live or work (Art. 77 GDPR).
Changes
If Design Extractor ever reads, keeps or sends more, this page changes before the new version is published, and its release notes say so. The site's own privacy policy is here, and the terms for using the extensions here.
